A fantastic hidden gem. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming, the staff full of laughter. The food was superb, beautifully cooked and wonderfully presented. A must for all to enjoy.

I don’t usually leave reviews but for this pub I thought I had to. I went to this pub towards the end of November and forgot to write a review. This pub genuinely astonished me with the food, service and atmosphere. Everything about this pub was amazing the food was excellent , the service was very welcoming and kind and the atmosphere was excellent. The people at the pub were all so kind and talkative. This genuinely has to be the best pub I have ever been to and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting around the area.
We stayed overnight in our campervan in the car park of this establishment. Walking into the bar we didn’t feel like strangers but more like locals and we immediately fell in love with this pub. Jason is a great landlord and we spent a few hours laughing and drinking with him and other customers. If you are in this part of the world, pop in and say hi. It will be worth it. We also took advice Jason offered us for our short stay in Wales and saw some beautiful places on his recommendation.
We spent a week in South Wales gliding and this was our first outing for something to eat. The food was excellent as were the owners who catered for dogs as well with their dog food menu. (We didn’t bring a dog, just something to note!)
I had probably one of the best burgers I’ve ever tasted washed down with Butty Bach. They also were very attentive to one of our group who had a gluten allergy. We ate out in other places throughout the week to explore what was on offer and it’s testament to the quality of service, atmosphere, food and drink and how engaging and passionate the owners are that we chose to come back and eat there again. And it wasn’t a one off, it was superb again!

Staying up the hill so we booked a table for dinner after a long drive down. The pub was warm and welcoming. Food was tasty. The couple who run the pub were lovely and even ran us back up to the hill saving us a long slow walk back to our accommodation.
What a little quirky Gem. The best Sunday roast i have ever had and they even catered for my wife’s Gluten intolerance. The portion was so big I didnt have room for pudding, but again this was catered for gluten free also. If im in the area again I will certainly be returning, especially with HPA on tap!!
“Picturesque and very rural 17thC Inn once owned by William Hancock & Co Brewery of Cardiff…run by a very welcoming couple, Rhiannon & Jason. We took advantage of the free camper van accommodation in the secluded field behind the pub…So glad we found this gem of a pub. An excellent evening and we will be back.”

“Lovely country pub with great food, live music events and a warm, friendly atmosphere. The venue is dog-friendly and hosts a large beer garden with gorgeous views. There’s also plenty of good walking trails in the surrounding area. A hidden gem!”

“The Halfway is an absolutely lovely pub and restaurant. I can see why this is a haunt for locals — the atmosphere is cozy and the staff and landlords are incredibly welcoming. Upon learning that we were visiting the area to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday, they brought out a pavlova and a celebratory paper cake. It was just very thoughtful and special!
