Our Menu

Our main menu served Wednesday – Saturday evenings from 6pm. It is packed with family favourites, home cooked foods and seasonal delights. In the summer months we also offer light lunches & our very popular ploughman’s lunch every Saturday from 12-6pm & Sunday lunches or ploughman’s every Sunday 12 -6pm. Ask our staff on arrival for details of our specials. Look out for vegetarian (V), vegan (VE) and  meals made without gluten.

Starter

Beetroot falafel (VE)

Beetroot, carrot, onion & chickpeas flavoured with sweet apricots & lightly spiced served with a yogert & mint dip.

Duck spring rolls

Crispy pastry encasing succulent duck. Served with garnish and a rich hoisin sauce.

Tempura battered prawns

Succulent prawns and a light, crispy tempura coating served with a sweet chili diping sauce.

White Bait (made without gluten)

White bait coated in a fine crispy crumb served with tartar sauce.

Main

Full rack of BBQ Ribs

Pork ribs smothered in sweet, smokey BBQ sauce slow cooked for fall apart tenderness served with chips, salad & onion rings.

Hunters chicken (made without gluten)

Juicy chicken breast topped with the classic combination of bacon, pineapple, bbq sauce and melted cheddar.

Mediterranean vegetable risotto (V)

A creamy tomato risotto, delicately flavoured with white wine & herbs, finished with sun-drenched tomatoes served with garlic bread.

Salmon & dill fishcakes (made without gluten)

Salmon fillet & potato rosti, blended with dill & lemon & coated with a seasoned light crispy batter flecked with parsley served with salad & new potato's.

Beef or vegetable Lasagne

Minced beef or roasted vegetables cooked with onions. tomato & herbs. layered with a creamy béchamel sauce. Served with garlic bread and side salad.

12oz Sirloin (made without gluten)

12oz Sirloin served with peas, tomato, large flat mushroom, onion rings & chips or jacket potato. Why not add peppercorn sauce just £3!.

8oz beef burger (made without gluten)

Succulent 8oz beef in a brioche bun topped with bacon and melted cheddar. Served with chips, side salad, onion rings and BBQ sauce on the side.

Plant burger (V, VE)

Plant burger that's juicy and hits the mark. Served with chips, side salad, onion rings and BBQ sauce on the side.

Crispy chicken burger

Crispy chicken nestled in a brioche bun topped with lettuce and tomato. Served with chips, salad, onion rings and a refreshing mayonnaise on the side.

Sharing platters

Sharing combo

6 chicken goujons, 4 slices of garlic bread and 12 onion rings. Served with dips of BBQ, tomato and mayo.

Classic nachos

Sharing portion of tortilla chips with melted cheese. Drizzled with salsa, a cool sour cream and guacamole.

Sunday Lunch

Meat from local farms and suppliers, seasonal vegetables plus lashings of gravy. Yorkshire puddings are a local favourite and the cauliflower cheese is a homemade speciality. During the summer months we also serve our very popular Ploughman's lunch on Sundays. Tuck in with your friends and family.

Proper burgers

Is there anything better than a real burger (or plant burger) ?

A proper burger, cooked on the open grill and served up with bacon, cheese (vegan cheese available too), salad & chunky chips.

Homemade pies and casseroles

You can often find hearty casseroles and pies on our specials board - and they fly out of the kitchen for our regulars who know they can't be beat. 

Local favourites are the steak and Wye Valley ale casserole and the fabulous fish pie.

Light bites

Great for the beer garden or to accompany you and your drinks. Pub favourite light bites and bar snacks often include our very popular ploughman's platter in the summer months.

Also popular are our sharing combo of onion rings, garlic bread & chicken goujons.

Pop-up kitchens

Monmouthshire and the Wye valley is brimming with great food and top chefs. Occasional pop-up kitchens help us to showcase some of the amazing tastes and talent in the area. You never know who will be popping up in our kitchen from time to time. 

Pop up kitchens include the Beefy boys, Spice up the Valley - Caribbean cusine, Cluckin bull rotisserie & pulled meats van & The Roti Shack, Malaysian curries and hand stretched roti.
