Our Menu

Our meals are home-cooked pub meals, large portions of your traditional favourites such as thick cut ham, egg & chips & beef lasagne.

Friday & Saturday evenings, we serve our main menu 6-9 pm.

On the first Friday of each month, we are joined by the talented Duncan of The Roti Shack, serving his Malaysian curries & hand-stretched roti.

Sunday we serve our fabulous 5* traditional Sunday lunches 12 -6pm (see our Sunday Lunch page).

Tempura battered prawns

Tempura prawns served in a crispy batter with a sweet chilli sauce.

Crispy breaded cauliflower bites with smoked paprika & cayenne pepper, served with vegan garlic aioli.

Golden fried halloumi fries drizzled with hot honey and herbs, served with award-winning Sweet Chilli Jamalade from Black Mountains Preserves — jars also available in the Pubtopia village shop.

Steak & ale pie

Award-winning local butcher Neil Powell lovingly handcrafts our pies, which have become one of our specialities, created using traditional methods, the finest ingredients, and a unique blend of spices. Served with your choice of homemade chips or creamy mashed potato, peas & of course a large jug of gravy.

Thick cut ham, egg & chips

A true pub favourite - thick-cut, local free range eggs & homemade chips. Simple, hearty & satisfying.

12 oz Local Sirloin

Local steak from Beavan family butchers' herd of Limousin suckler cows producing top quality lean meat slaughtered locally. The meat is hung to mature ensuring a tenderness and flavour that is not found elsewhere. Served with vine-ripened tomatoes, beer-battered onion rings, garden peas, your choice of homemade chips or creamy mashed potatoes.

Salmon & Dill Fishcakes

Chunks of Scottish salmonfillet & potato rosti, blended with dill & lemon & coated with a light batter. Served with salad & your choice of homemade chips or new potatoes.

Lasagne - Beef or Vegetable

Welsh minced beef or roasted vegetables, layered with bechamel sauce, cooked with onions, tomatoes, & herbs, served with garlic bread & salad.

Wholetail scampi

Wholetail scampi coated in crispy breadcrumbs to encase the meat and providing the perfect crunch with every bite! Served with homemade chips, garden peas & tartar sauce.

Moroccan Falafel Bowl

Moroccan-spiced falafels with chickpeas, red pepper, apricots & dates, served over lemon couscous with hummus, pickled onions and fresh salads, finished with a harissa yoghurt drizzle.

Buttermilk Chicken Burger

Homemade crispy buttermilk chicken burger in a toasted artisan sourdough roll from 3 Sisters Co., Llanarth, with lettuce, pickled red onion and garlic mayo. Topped with beer battered onion rings or made without gluten breaded rings. Served with homemade chips & salad. Three Sisters Co. breads and products also available in the Pubtopia shop.

Luxury Hawaiian Burger

Succulent 8oz beef burger layered with local Angiddy soft cheese & crispy bacon in a brioche bun. Topped with a skewer of beer-battered onion rings & a juicy slice of pineapple, accompanied by a side of BBQ sauce, homemade chips & salad.

Proper food cooked right

Traditional countryside meals with that ‘home from home’ feel. Plus buffet, party food, and bespoke event packages available if you’re looking for a larger private booking!

Prosciutto & Rocket

Prosciutto, mozzarella and tomato, finished with rocket and a balsamic drizzle.

Roasted Vegetable

Roasted vegetables, mozzarella and local Brookes diary Feddw cheese or applewood vegan cheese, finished with fresh rocket and balsamic glaze.

Hawaiian

Thick cut ham, pineapple and cheddar on a classic tomato base.

Ploughman's Lunch

The Halfway Ploughman's for two. Honey-glazed ham, selection of cheeses, pork pie, pickled onions, apple, crisp salad, award-winning Welsh ale chutney from Black Mountains Preserves, wholegrain mustard and crusty rolls. Ploughman's for one - £15.95

Sunday Lunch

Meat from local farms and suppliers, seasonal vegetables plus lashings of gravy. Yorkshire puddings are a local favourite and the cauliflower cheese is a homemade speciality. During the summer months we also serve our very popular Ploughman's lunch on Sundays. Tuck in with your friends and family.

Proper burgers

Is there anything better than a real burger (or plant burger) ?

A proper burger, cooked on the open grill and served up with bacon, cheese, salad & homemade chips.

Pop-up kitchens

Monmouthshire and the Wye valley is brimming with great food and top chefs. Occasional pop-up kitchens help us to showcase some of the amazing tastes and talent in the area. You never know who will be popping up in our kitchen from time to time. 

Pop up kitchens include the Beefy boys, Spice up the Valley - Caribbean cusine, Cluckin bull rotisserie & pulled meats van & The Roti Shack, Malaysian curries and hand stretched roti.
