Our Menu

Our meals are home-cooked pub meals, large portions of your traditional favourites such as liver, bacon & onion & beef lasagne.

Friday & Saturday evenings, we serve our main menu 6-9 pm.

On the first Friday of each month, we are joined by the talented Duncan of The Roti Shack, serving his Malaysian curries & hand-stretched roti.

Sunday we serve our fabulous 5* traditional Sunday lunches 12 -6pm (see our Sunday Lunch page).

Starter

Welsh Dragon Pate

This fiery venison Pâté jumps with a spice packed pungency. The rich ochre, teased with red chilli, marries with the rich game liver to give a full, warming experience to remember, served with wholemeal, crusty bread & caramelised onion chutney.

Homemade soup

Fresh homemade soup made with local ingredients served with a bread roll & local netherland butter.

Cheesy Chutney Melts

Mature cheddar cheese bite filled with smooth caramelised onion chutney coated in gluten free breadcrumb.

Local Pie of the Week

Award-winning local butcher Neil Powell lovingly handcrafts our pies, which have become one of our specialities, created using traditional methods, the finest ingredients, and a unique blend of spices. Served with your choice of homemade chips or creamy mashed potato, peas & of course a large jug of gravy.

Liver, Bacon & Onions

A nostalgic dish that's rich and nutritious, served with creamy mashed potato & sauteed cabbage.

12 oz Local Sirloin

Local steak from Beavan family butchers' herd of Limousin suckler cows producing top quality lean meat slaughtered locally. The meat is hung to mature ensuring a tenderness and flavour that is not found elsewhere. Served with vine-ripened tomatoes, beer-battered onion rings, garden peas, your choice of homemade chips or creamy mashed potatoes.

Squash, Brie & Beetroot tart

Roasted squash & brie tart with beetroot chutney, truffle infused oil & vintage cheddar. Served with new potatoes & roasted vegetables.

Lasagne - Beef or Vegetable

Welsh minced beef or roasted vegetables, layered with bechamel sauce, cooked with onions, tomatoes, & herbs, served with garlic bread & salad.

Wholetail scampi

Wholetail scampi coated in crispy breadcrumbs to encase the meat and providing the perfect crunch with every bite! Served with homemade chips, garden peas & tartar sauce.

Warm Winter Salad

Warm roast potato & crispy kale salad with roast vegetables, honey & balsamic glaze, local Feddw greek-style cheese & flaked almonds.

Luxury Vegetable Burger

Lental, carrot, onion & spring onion double burger with cumin, garlic & coriander in a brioche bun layered with melted applewood vegan cheese & not bacon. Topped with onion rings & not pigs in blankets. Served with homemade chips, salad & cranberry sauce.

Luxury Winter Burger

Succulent 8oz beef burger layered with local Angiddy soft cheese & crispy bacon in a brioche bun. Topped with a skewer of beer-battered onion rings & pigs in blankets, accompanied by a side of cranberry sauce, homemade chips & salad.

Proper food cooked right

Traditional countryside meals with that ‘home from home’ feel. Plus buffet, party food, and bespoke event packages available if you’re looking for a larger private booking!

Winter Sharers & sides

Winter Sharing Loaf

Oven-baked tiger loaf, smothered in garlic butter & fresh rosemary with a melted camembert centre, drizzled in honey & topped with cranberry sauce.

Santa's Nacho's

Nacho's topped with tender turkey, sausage meatballs, crispy bacon, cranberry sauce, local Feddw cheese & cheddar, sprinkled with red onion, lime juice & sage.

Nibblemas Plater

Delicious pigs in blankets (8), yummy Yorkshire puddings (4), crispy roast potatoes (8), tender chicken strips (6) served with a bowl of gravy for dipping.

Sunday Lunch

Meat from local farms and suppliers, seasonal vegetables plus lashings of gravy. Yorkshire puddings are a local favourite and the cauliflower cheese is a homemade speciality. During the summer months we also serve our very popular Ploughman's lunch on Sundays. Tuck in with your friends and family.

Proper burgers

Is there anything better than a real burger (or plant burger) ?

A proper burger, cooked on the open grill and served up with bacon, cheese (vegan cheese available too), salad & chunky chips.

Pop-up kitchens

Monmouthshire and the Wye valley is brimming with great food and top chefs. Occasional pop-up kitchens help us to showcase some of the amazing tastes and talent in the area. You never know who will be popping up in our kitchen from time to time. 

Pop up kitchens include the Beefy boys, Spice up the Valley - Caribbean cusine, Cluckin bull rotisserie & pulled meats van & The Roti Shack, Malaysian curries and hand stretched roti.
